Additional Authentic Shotokan Karate Resources
Instructor Certification & Trainee Program
The AJKA-International Instructor Training Program is dedicated to developing world-class Shotokan karate instructors grounded in traditional Budo philosophy, biomechanical efficiency, and modern pedagogical standards. Candidates undergo rigorous physical, technical, and theoretical evaluations—covering advanced kata bunkai, oyo kumite, refereeing, and dojo management—to ensure the highest quality of instruction across all member clubs worldwide.
Dojo & Club Affiliation
AJKA-International welcomes independent dojos, university clubs, and regional organizations seeking an authentic, non-political Shotokan home. Affiliated dojos gain access to internationally recognized Dan ranking and credentialing, standardized testing syllabi, continuing instructor education, and participation in global seminars and camps, all while maintaining autonomy over their local school operations.
Youth & Adult Technical Seminars
Throughout the year, AJKA-International hosts regional, national, and international training camps and master-class seminars for students of all ranks. These intensive training events focus on the core principles of Shotokan karate: solidifying fundamental Kihon mechanics, exploring practical application (Oyo), sharpening competitive Kumite, and fostering international camaraderie among karateka of every generation.
Adaptive Martial Arts (Special Needs Program)
AJKA-International believes that traditional Shotokan karate should be accessible to everyone. Our Adaptive Martial Arts initiative provides specialized instruction tailored for children and young adults with physical, sensory, and neurodivergent needs (including autism, ADHD, and developmental delays). By adapting classical Kihon and Kata to each individual’s unique strengths, we focus on building motor coordination, balance, focus, and emotional self-regulation within a supportive, structured environment.
Youth Opportunity & Community Outreach (Underprivileged Youth)
No child should be denied the discipline, character building, and mentorship of martial arts due to financial hardship. Through this initiative, AJKA-International partners with local community centers and member dojos to provide full and partial training sponsorships, donated uniforms (dogi), and testing fee waivers for youth from underserved backgrounds. We teach life skills—respect, resilience, self-control, and confidence—empowering the next generation to overcome challenges on and off the mat.
